INDIGO Announces Relaunch of Nuclear Receptor Resource Website

Premiere Educational Resource for Human Nuclear Receptor Information

State College, PA (12/8/2016)

INDIGO Biosciences, Inc. is pleased to announce the relaunch of the Nuclear Receptor Resource website. The NRR is a premier educational resource for information on the 48 human nuclear receptors. The NRR website has undergone a major redesign to make the site easier to navigate and more informative. The Nuclear Receptor Resource contains information, drawings, white papers, and academic articles related to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily.

Nuclear Receptors are intracellular transcription factors that directly regulate gene expression and affect a wide variety of functions, including fatty acid metabolism, reproductive development, and detoxification of foreign substances. While there have been over 300 nuclear receptors cloned to date, there are only 48 members of the family in humans, including some for which very little research is available. Nuclear Receptor research is key during early stage drug discovery, as well as in the biotech, agriculture, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries.

The editor of Nuclear Receptor Resource is Dr. Jack Vanden Heuvel, a recognized expert in the field of nuclear receptor biology and toxicology with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. In addition to being the editor for the Nuclear Receptor Resource, Dr. Vanden Heuvel is a Professor at Penn State University, where he is Program Coordinator of the undergraduate Toxicology Program, Co-Director of the Center of Excellence in Nutrigenomics, and leads an extramurally-funded research program. Dr. Vanden Heuvel is also the Chief Scientific Officer at INDIGO Biosciences, Inc.

“The redesign of the Nuclear Receptor Resource site makes it even easier for scientists and researchers from all fields to find the information they need regarding nuclear receptors, their functions, interactions, and expression. We are constantly working to expand the site, as well as looking for contributions and suggestions to improve the knowledge base, and the new site allows that to happen more effectively,” says Dr. Vanden Heuvel, NRR Editor.

About the Nuclear Receptor Resource
The Nuclear Receptor Resource is dedicated to this important family of ligand-activated transcription factors. Throughout the site readers will find articles and reviews about various nuclear receptors, as well as more information on each of the 48 human nuclear receptors. The website uses a wide variety of external resources and databases, which optimizes the ability of keeping the site up-to-date. The NRR welcomes contributions and suggestions.
