INDIGO Biosciences Wraps Up 2023 with a Record Number of New Product Releases

New Cell-Based Reporter Assays Included Those for Nuclear Receptors, GPCRs, and Growth Factors

State College, PA (January 12th, 2024) – INDIGO Biosciences concluded 2023 with a record number of new product releases, adding 17 new assays to its portfolio of cell-based reporter gene assays targeting Nuclear Receptors, G-protein Coupled Receptors (CPCRs), Growth Factors, Transcription Factors, and Cytokine Receptors. INDIGO assays are used by researchers worldwide in industries as diverse as biotechnology research, pharmaceutical discovery, agrichemical development, and environmental monitoring.

“INDIGO’s team of Ph.D. scientists is truly made up of assay development experts,” said Fred Marroni, INDIGO’s President and CEO. “Bringing this many new products to market in a single year is no small task, and doing so speaks to their level of skill and expertise. Our science team is already hard at work on new products for 2024, and we are on track to exceed last year’s record number of new product introductions.”

INDIGO Biosciences offers the world’s largest portfolio of cell-based luciferase nuclear receptor assays. In 2023 the company expanded that portfolio with two ortholog assays: Mouse Mineralocorticoid Receptor (MR) and Rabbit Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Delta (PPAR delta).

New GPCRs include the family of Adrenoreceptors ADRA1A, ADRA1B, ADRA1D, and ADRB1 (with ADRB2, ADRA2A and ADRB3 currently in development), Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor (GLP-1R), and Insulin Receptor, isoform B (INSRb).

Growth Factor assay additions include the family of Colony Stimulating Factor Receptors (G-CSFR, M-CSFR, GM-CSFR) and Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 Receptor (IGF-1R).

In addition, INDIGO released a family of five assays optimized for environmental monitoring applications such as evaluating water samples for Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDCs) and Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs). The assays include those for the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR), Androgen Receptor (AR), Estrogen Receptor (ER), Glucocorticoid Receptor (GR), and Mineralocorticoid Receptor (MR).

INDIGO can run any of its assays as a service in its own lab, and the company also offers assays as all-inclusive kits that contain all materials needed to perform the assay, including cryopreserved optimized reporter cells, media for use in recovering the cryopreserved cells and for diluting test samples, a standard reference compound, luciferase detection reagent, cell culture-ready assay plate, and a detailed protocol. By providing all necessary assay reagents in one easy-to-use kit, INDIGO enables researchers to obtain high-quality data quickly. There is no need for researchers to procure individual components from multiple sources, painstakingly transfect and selectively propagate reporter cells, or optimize the assay.

What also sets INDIGO kits apart is their proprietary CryoMite™ cryo-preservation process, which eliminates weeks of cell-culture work, allowing researchers to get reliable data quickly. This process allows scientists to immediately dispense healthy, division-competent reporter cells into the assay-ready plates. There is no need for cumbersome intermediate treatment steps such as spin and rinse of cells, viability determinations, or cell titer adjustments prior to assay setup. Simply thaw and plate the reporter cells, add test compounds and detection reagents, and obtain assay results in as little as 24 hours.
